Daily printhead cleaning eliminated for preserves and chutneys producer Mrs Darlington’s
Linx 8940 Spectrum eliminates the need for daily printhead cleaning for Mrs Darlington’s
Mrs Darlington’s is an award winning producer of jams, curds, pickles and chutneys. A family business established in the 1980’s, Mrs Darlington’s products are exported worldwide.
Mrs Darlington’s uses hard pigmented inks to provide good opacity of traceability codes across a range of jar types and products.
Printing up to 18,000 jars per day, 4 days per week, the customer was experiencing high maintenance due to daily printhead cleaning, and problems with restarts when the machine was left off, even if just for one day. They needed a more reliable and hassle-free marking solution.
Industry | Food |
Substrate | Glass jars, marking on the base |
Production volume | 16,000 – 18,000 jars a day |
Running hours | 4 days per week, 7.5 hours a day |
Printer & Ink | Linx 8940 Spectrum, Opaque blue ink 1043 |
Since installing the Linx 8940 Spectrum with Opaque blue ink 1043 the customer has noticed a dramatic reduction in daily cleaning and maintenance compared to their previous coder. They don’t need to do anything with it, just switch it on, even after a 10-day shutdown.
“The old one we had to clean everyday, this one we haven’t at all. There’s nothing there to clean. The print is nice and clear. All I can say really is it has been really reliable. It’s consistent, it hasn’t stopped. Its print is perfect”.
